Philanthropic, Fair Trade and Artisan-made is what sums up the mission of socially-driven Accompany. Living up to the highest ethical standards, Accompany curates a unique selection of homewares and fashion accessories that set the bar in "style culture" and what it means to purchase with a purpose. In a world where greenwashing can be increasingly difficult to identify, we appreciate the high degree of transparency that Accompany meets for all of their products. To begin with, all products must meet the minimum standards of being either Artisan-made, Fair Trade and/or Philanthropic. Artisan-made goods at Accompany are hand-made and either one-of-a-kind or limited edition. They reflect the cultural and artistic traditions of communities and people who are marginalized and live in impoverished areas of the world. Fair Trade, in essence, is the answer to eradicating sweat shops. It is investing in helping improve the lives of workers, and is primarily accomplished financially, in that workers are guaranteed fair working wages as opposed to being under-payed and taken advantage of. Getting a Fair Trade certification can be a nebulous matter (especially when working directly with small artisan communities), and while some of Accompany's curated items are Fair Trade certified, Accompany imposes their own set of requirements that protect against worker exploitation and ensuring safe and healthy working conditions. Accompany's philanthropic standards pertain to partners who are intentionally working with marginalized communities, supporting human-rights causes, providing help to communities outside of the workplace and providing charitable donations.
